Nebbiolo: Our inaugural release

Some wines are planned. Others are destined.

When we acquired Altair Estate, Nebbiolo was already rooted in our vineyard……quietly waiting. A rare and ambitious planting for Margaret River and from that moment it became something more than just a varietal. It became part of our evolving focus on Italian varietals, sitting alongside the region’s classic expressions.

Today, we are proud to introduce Altair Estate’s first-ever Nebbiolo. A powerful new chapter in our portfolio, alongside Vermentino and Sangiovese.

Often referred to as the king of Italian varietals, Nebbiolo is revered for its structure, longevity and unmistakable presence. It is not a wine that whispers, it commands attention. In the glass, it reveals layers of wild rose, dried herbs, cherry and subtle spice, all underpinned by firm, grippy tannins and vibrant, driving acidity.

As our winemaker reflects:

“Nebbiolo had already been planted on site when Altair Estate came to be, and since that day it has always been a dream of ours to make. It is the king of Italian varietals with its power, strength and depth. There is something magical about the bold, grippy tannins and piercing acid”

Crafted with intention and patience, this inaugural release captures both the noble heritage of the varietal and the unique expression of our Wilyabrup terroir. It is a wine built for evolution. Structured, refined and undeniably captivating.

This is not just a release.

It marks an expansion of our vineyard’s potential and a deeper exploration of what our terroir can achieve.
